From Growing to Cooking: Find Your Mushroom Starting Point

Some people want to grow mushrooms. Others want to cook with them. And some just want to add mushrooms to a daily routine. At Cotaco Creek Mushroom Farm, we offer a starting point for each.

If you want to grow

Start with inoculated spawn if you want mushroom mycelium that’s already growing on its food source. It’s an option for growers ready to move into their next cultivation step.

Choose uninoculated spawn if you’d rather add your own culture and manage the process yourself. If you’re unsure which one fits your setup, check the product details before ordering so you know what equipment and steps you’ll need.

If you want to cook

Dried oyster mushrooms are an option to keep on hand when you want mushrooms without planning around a fresh harvest. Rehydrate them and use them in soups, sauces, or other cooked dishes.

Dried lion’s mane gives you another way to bring mushrooms into the kitchen. Try it in a recipe where you can build flavor with your favorite seasonings.

For a different format, lion’s mane powder can be stirred into recipes or drinks. And if coffee is more your speed, we also offer mushroom coffee. Check each product listing for its ingredients and preparation directions.

If you cook for a restaurant

We work with restaurant customers looking for oyster mushrooms and lion’s mane. Visit our wholesale page to learn more and get in touch about what your kitchen needs.

Whether you’re starting a grow, stocking the pantry, or planning a menu, the best first step is the one that fits what you’ll actually use. Explore the products at Cotaco Creek Mushroom Farm and pick your starting point.
